My Boyband Has Incredible Taste

So this past Saturday, Adam and I decided to go out and find the tux he'll wear for our wedding. Since the colors are black, white and hot pink, we weren't without choices. All that being said, Once we walked in Adam instantly was drawn to the same tux I was.

He'll look pretty friggen awesome in my opinion. Instead of that icky maroon tie, he'll wear a hot pink one. The best part was that we got this tux for an amazingly good price all because we decided to go with our own tie instead of theirs. Let's just say we saved around $25 and LOVE Clark's Tuxedos. PS... the sale's guy was nice enough to let us rent the tux for my bridal pictures for half the price. Um, can anyone say, "Yes, Thank you!"

For those of you who know Adam well, you know that he's a holiday scrooge. He hates everything about the holidays except for being able to work for time and a half. I bite my tongue for now and let him work his holidays away. But he knows once we have kidlets running around things will change. For some bizarre reason though, this year he let me put up my Christmas tree in his house. I know... shock and awe! It's a little on the pathetic side mainly because the lighting in that old house just sucks, but also because what do you expect?! We're new at this set up your own decorations business.

Speaking of decorations, we were fortunate enough to attend the RE/MAX Results Christmas Party. Debbie, my co-worker, decided that we needed to buy some PVC pipe to make a sort of backdrop to hide the kitchen from the main seating area. When she casually mentioned not knowing what she'd do with it afterwards I quickly offered to buy it. So for a grand total of $25.26 I purchased a backdrop to use at our wedding. Here is a picture of the basic frame with one sheet hanging from it. We'll obviously add more than just one, but we're thinking that hanging lights behind it would be fun.

I called about my dress today and was told to check back in a week. I'm pretty excited to get that thing here so we can start doing alterations and get my bridals done. Lots going on around here for sure.

Have I mentioned?

I have probably the cutest nephew ever. I know, I know. Everyone says that. But seriously, look at how cute he was in his little Thanksgiving outfit?

Announcement Showdown 2009

I've been wanting to get a little feedback on these invitations. I've been toying around with them in different colors and with slightly different effects. The first one is our most preferred. So they're basically in the order most liked to least liked. The info (times and addresses) aren't right, they're just sort of place holders for the final draft so we can see what it would look like.

Oh, and I should mention that the photography was done by Rick Brimhall. So kudos to him on getting a few good shots in of us.

So, what do you think?

Wedding Plans

Things are coming along nicely. We have my dress ordered. It should be in around Christmas. Now if only I could stop stressing about it fitting me properly, we'd be set.

We've asked Mayor Elect, G. Wayne Andersen to marry us. It's unconventional in the state of Utah for a Mayor to marry couples. Most people look to get married in the temple or by a local bishop. When Adam and I spoke about it, we felt that Mayor Andersen would be the perfect man to marry us since he knows both of us through attending Spanish Fork City Council Meetings. We're thrilled and we also get to be his first official act as Mayor.

We have also bought the flower girls dresses. I didn't really want them to be in the exact dress. I figured it'd be more fun to have a kind of eclectic look with similar colors.

This is Katelynn in her dress. Both will have a little hot pink flower added to the band. And we'll see about putting some sort of cute headband in their hair most likely.

Sweet little Janie Roe will look so adorable in this little dress.

The Engagement

Stories like this are never short, so here is the complete version. Adam has a completely different version of the events. Sometime, I'll let him tell his side of the story, but for now, you're stuck with mine.

So really Adam started being sneaky on Wednesday. He had come into my office at work to bring me a cute potted gerber daisy and a coke. While we were talking he asked what my parents were up to. I told him they were at the house getting ready to go to Ogden for a horse show. He then mentioned that he had an appointment in town and he had to run off quickly but that he would return. Little did I know that he actually had an appointment to meet with my parents and ask them for their blessing in asking me to marry him. After sitting them both down and gaining their approval he came back to my office where he acted as normal as could be.

We had decided to go the Harvest Moon Hurrah in Spanish Fork on Saturday night. We went and enjoyed the fun for a bit after some family stuff. While there Adam mentioned that he wasn't feeling very well. We then headed back to my house for a few minutes. After a while Adam looked at me and said he needed to go home because he still wasn't feeling well. I understood and walked him to the door to say goodnight on the porch. After saying goodnight I locked the door behind me. On my way back to my room I heard a knock on the door. Knowing I had locked it, I thought, "Oh! He must have left his keys in here." I went to answer the door and there he was. Standing with a beautiful bunch of roses and the ring box opened in his hand he said, "I know I love you unconditionally." I started to tear up. He then said, "I know I want to spend the rest of our lives together, what do you think?" I wrapped my arms around him and kissed him and said "Of course!" After another kiss he said, "So will you marry me? Did I already ask you that?!" I replied "Yes you did and YES! I will!"

I was shaking and crying as he put the ring on my finger. I was so happy that my best friend would ask me to be his. After this we went in and told my family. Turns out my sister and brother-in-law had helped him pick out the roses earlier that day. He had been completely sneaky the entire time and it was such an awesome surprise.

We decided that February 20th will be the day we get married. We are so thrilled and excited to share it with all of our friends and family and more importantly, each other. Our new slogan has become: Adam, Jen, 20. 10.
A quick kiss on the porch

My beautiful ring. He picked the PERFECT one.
